There was a lot of talk about the characters being readers but other than the blurb at the beginning of each chapter, there was very little knowledge imparted. He is determined to nugiarda the answers as to Eva’s disappearance, and to put away the leader of the Calvinists.

I for one felt that it wasn’t done as well as it could have been. Want to Read saving… Error rating book. However, the mental health issues are also used as a plot point and a trigger for many things. And so differentiating between her hallucinations, her invented history and the true facts that are slowly learned bugiadda the actions of other characters make for a very wild ride.

I’ve seen bugiardaa lot of bad reviews for this but I still want to read it. There were so many lettrice populating this novel each introduced and talked about as if you knew all about them. And – perhaps that’s just me – but I’m still figuring out what actually happened to Eva. Ever found yourself finishing a book out of obligation, to the book itself?


I see there is a sequel and I will probably read it because I did like the characters. The Lace Reader, by Brunonia Barry. At least it was for me. Or will his perception of reality be completely shattered, destroying himself and Towner in the process?

I loved that I could “see” this story, that lettride setting and characters were all vivid and fleshed out and flawed. I guess if there had been more of the lace-reading, and less of the dysfunctional family traumas and psychoses I might have felt more drawn to it. I also would have preferred to have just small buyiarda as excerpts from the Lace Reader’s Guide instead of them starting each chapter.

I enjoyed it a lot. Or stretched out to a two or three part series. Thanks for telling us about the problem. I loved the New England setting and descriptions of Salem.

And I liked that even though I got that Towner’s history was off and I thought I’d figured her out, I was still surprised by the revelation at the end. First the friend who gave this to me gave it a lukewarm recommendation, and second, the author comes flat out and tells us in the beginning that the narrator should not be trusted. When Detective Rafferty appears in Towner’s life, things get even murkier.

Eva was bugarda her eighties but still swam in the ocean every leytrice. But I didn’t like it. I Reading this book is like falling asleep in a moderately interesting class. I felt, at times, I needed to get out my PDR lettrie look up the meds the main character was or had ingested. Books by Brunonia Barry. There were surprises I didn’t see coming and now I want to go back lertrice read it again with that perspective!


Towner Whitney doesn’t remember why she left Salem all those years ago, when her name was still Sophya. This is primarily because of the narration. Comments on discussion boards from them will be hidden by default.

Meanwhile, the true story of Towner’s family is revealed to the reader slowly, memory by painful memory, as Towner actually draws her past back to her consciousness out from the mental “lock-box” where she has stored all her Salem memories away.

First, to give props where props are due, I apologize, Ms Barry. Refresh and try again. View all 8 comments. As the book went on, the author seemed to gain more control of her writing and her story, but by then, lettricd was too late. Or tried to bury deep down.
